Dubailand to Have a Replica of Taj Mahal Estimated to Cost $1 Billion

Dubai has grown into a wonderland despite its sweeping deserts. They are always willing to build what they don’t have. Its malls and hotels all boast of over the top architecture and they continue to take it forward after a small break in momentum because of the global economic slowdown. They have created islands in the shape of different continents. The megaproject in the pipeline is the massive Dubailand which has been planned as the world’s greatest theme park. In Dubai they love to make everything luxurious and grand. They are planning to replicate the Taj Mahal in Dubailand at a budgeted cost of $1 billion.

A Perfect Destination for Weddings

Arun Mehra, the developer of the project hopes to promote it as a wedding destination. It would be rather symbolic to get married in the monument of love. Dubailand will be spread over 227 square kilometer but the Taj project will be located in the Falcon City section, a large area of land designed to resemble a falcon spreading its wings. The budget for the Taj complex is close to $1 billion and it is expected to be completed by 2014. When completed, it will serve as a great attraction for the tourists in Dubai and boost the Emirates reputation as a destination for weddings.

The Taj Complex will Feature a 300 Room 5 Star Hotel

It will be called Taj Arabia and will be the centerpiece of the largest theme park which will be double the size of all the Disneyland and Disney World resorts combined. Taj Mahal was originally built as a monument of love by Mughal Emperor Sha Jehan at Agra, India in the 17th century. It is amongst the Seven Wonders of the World and attracts millions of tourists from around the world. However the replica is planned as a complex for commercial purposes. It will feature a 300-room, five-star hotel, along with apartments, offices, shops and restaurants. It is sure to match the real Taj in terms of the number of tourists it attracts.
